The Endeavour Story

From crayons to (virtual) classroom

As with many business success stories, Endeavour began by chance. In the mid-1980s a young Kevin Lohan was working for the Department of Defence when he found himself drawn into the growing training department.

An obvious knack for adult education quickly developed into a passion. Kevin’s knowledge and expertise grew as he progressed upwards through other government-based training and development roles, eventually deciding to acquire formal qualifications through completion of a Bachelor of Adult Education. Always one to seek further challenges, in 1987, with the support of his wife Bronwyn, Kevin took the leap into private enterprise and together they launched the good ship Endeavour into uncharted waters.

What started off as a fledgling enterprise eventually grew to a larger team as the demand for Kevin’s expertise exploded. Kevin built a network of highly skilled and technically-minded consultants, joining him to tackle highly complex and multi-faceted learning projects. Under Kevin’s guidance, this team led many developments in Australian adult education. Notably, Endeavour became an early adopter of the eLearning platform and continues to lead the field with award-winning online educational design today.

Over the years as Endeavour grew, Kevin and Bronwyn’s family grew as well. Endeavour became a true family business, drawing on the skills and talents of not only Kevin and Bronwyn but also their children at various times over the years, from stuffing envelopes and binding documents, to taking over the day-to-day running of the business when Kevin was diagnosed with cancer in 2011. Many have said that Kevin’s passion for adult education was contagious. For the Lohan family, it was genetic.

The Endeavour family and wider adult education community were devastated when Kevin finally succumbed to his illness on 15 November 2015, however we are proud of the new heights our family-owned Australian business is reaching. Sadly Kevin only missed by two weeks the announcement of our 2015 award for Best Use of Technology in Learning, an award we won against stiff competition from much larger enterprises.

Our loyal clients are a testament to our commitment to quality adult education and our many awards a testament to our success.

The story of Endeavour is the story of our life. We welcome you to join us in writing the next chapter…
