Custom mobile self-assessment tool
The challenge? To create a mobile-optimised tool to put clinical supervisors in touch with the best learning and development resources for their individual needs… and to convince them to use it.
Our client wanted a quick and easy way for clinical supervisors across the health sector to identify learning and development resources suited to their individual level of skills and experience.
A complex tool was out of the question. We needed to be creative and come up with something that learners would want to use and recommend to their colleagues.
We proposed to turn the client’s more formal self-assessment model into an engaging online quiz, allowing learners to easily identify their skill level while avoiding the typical pitfalls of self-reporting on performance.
Endeavour worked in collaboration with a university researcher and with the client’s existing web development and graphic design teams to build the mobile-optimised self-assessment tool which matched the look and feel of their existing online environment.
Each respondent is presented with questions and scenarios for which they select the outcome or response that most closely reflects their own approach. Based on the responses provided, Endeavour’s software creates an individualised report, containing a training profile for each respondent, as well as recommendations for available training and development opportunities and interventions.
This tool has been positively received and is being regularly used by health professionals interested in self-development.
Quick facts:
- Developed by our in-house programmer, the tool presents a native user experience for mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets, as well as a desktop/laptop user experience
- Complex reporting algorithms match learner needs with specific learning resources, taking into account client preferences for promoting in-house resources
